Tailor Birds is Sophie Kinston, electronic violinist, who with live looping, foley art, and rich harmonised vocals, creates a magical sound, building sound in front of audiences eyes. This is music that soothes the soul, warms the spirit, and ignites your passion. With boundary pushing performances, this is the latest act to come onto the international touring circuit.
Having formed Tailor Birds in 2012, with shows through NSW, QLD, SA, & VIC, and with 4 European tours in as many years, Tailor Birds is building something unique. Building an audience that is as diverse as much as it is one, you could say that Sophie is a travelling troubadour. She believes that music should not just be about playing one gig after another with just the music making impact, but is also about connecting people to something good again, in a world that is constantly changing. Music needs to inspire, and placing Tailor Birds in a space that can do just that, it makes an impact greater than you could ever imagine.

Tailor Birds tours both as a solo act, as a duo, and a larger band, dependent on the tour, and is fast becoming an established touring act in both Australia and Europe (primarily Holland and Ireland). Sophie pushes its’ boundaries within performance spaces and the sound created, and wherever she performs, engages talented local artists / musicians, with key core members, combining both guitars, electronics, percussion, foley, vocals, and other instruments, this is nothing you’ve heard before.
Sophie leads a line-up that includes Australian VCA graduate Daniel Brates (percussion/drums), Constantine Stefanou (newly recruited guitarist for all Australian shows) and various guest musicians in Europe incl. Jerome (piano), Bob Glynn (drums, Ireland), Pete Flood (drums, UK), Rick van der Ree (beats/electronics), Hungarian vocalist, Erika Kertesz, Dutch accordionist/vocalist, Cato Fluitsma, and more. More and more she is working with the talents of other singer/songwriters, particularly for the larger tours and for further recording as both Tailor Birds and a couple of side projects currently in the works.
